Kaleidoscopic brick wall
This exercise was undertaken during the “Thinking Through Making” week. We were encouraged to experiment with materials already available on site to create an experimental element that could inform part of our design.
Brick is a key material in Port Edgar, so I explored ways it could be creatively reused as an art-making feature within the building.
Drawing on the Fibonacci sequence, I developed the concept for a kaleidoscopic wall. The brick, chiselled and combined with fragments of mirror, glass and grout, forms a tile that could be assembled with others to create a vibrant, kaleidoscopic brick surface.
A 1:1 brick tile made with brick, glass, mirror and grout was created and stitched together digitally to create a kaleidescope brick wall.
This piece was exhibited at The Holy Art Gallery in London March of 2023.
